Don Manuel is from a long line of coffee producers, more than he can count. When asked why he cultivates coffee he laughed, “What else am I going to do?,” he asked. He bought his current farm, Mira Flores, eleven years ago, and recently gave a small lot to his son Edilson, as is the tradition in Colombia. A few years ago Don Manuel planted a small plot of Tabi with the intention of entering the specialty market. In 2017 he invested in a new solar drier and began experimenting with his first Tabi harvest. This investment was rewarded in the CCS Acevedo Cup 2018. Don Manuel’s Tabi lot was blended with lots from his son’s farm, and neighboring farm of Otoniel Cordoba, and the blend won 5th place. Don Manuel plans to reinvest the earnings from this win into increasing his specialty production. Don Manuel's coffee is part of the Río Suaza
blend that placed fifth in the CCS Acevedo Cup 2018.
